Spay and Neuter Options

Pet Spay and Neuter Options available:

1. Local Veterinarians –

Anyone adopting a dog or cat from the Rockbridge SPCA may select a local vet of choice to spay or neuter their new companion.  Costs vary by veterinary clinics/hospitals.

 

2. Monthly Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Transport –

The Rockbridge SPCA works with the Augusta Regional SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic to offer a monthly low-cost spay and neuter transport for pets. Proof of a rabies vaccination is required, or a rabies vaccine will be given for an additional fee of $15.00+.

Dogs:

Pricing includes transport, surgery, pain medication, e-collar, and nail trim.

– $105.00 for dogs less than 50 pounds
– $130.00 for dogs 51 – 100 pounds
– $155.00 for dogs 101 – 150 pounds
– $205.00 for dogs over 151 pounds

* Add $15.00 if you do not have proof of a current rabies shot.

Cats:

Pricing includes transport, surgery, and injectable pain medication.

– $60.00 for male and female cats.

* Add $15.00 if you do not have proof of a current rabies shot.

 

Only cash is accepted for the transport.  Payment goes directly to the Augusta Spay/Neuter Clinic.
Each pet must arrive in a hard-sided crate or carrier on the day of transport. We do not provide crates. 

 

3. TNR (Trap Neuter Return) –

Registration and payment of $45.00 must be made anytime up to the day before the transport.  All free roaming cats must be in a cat trap.  All cats will be ear-tipped.  If you are unable to trap your free roaming cat for the current transport, you can transfer your registration and payment of to the next transport.  We will keep trying as long as you do!

 

4. Alter Rockbridge (Assistance for Low-Income Families) –

If you are in need of assistance to help spay or neuter you pet, we can help qualifying families!  Please print and fill out the Rockbridge SPCA 2019-2020 Household Application for Free or Reduced Spay and Neuters. Print application and bring it to the shelter, or scan and email to tara@rockbridgespca.net  This application is intended for low-income families and will be reviewed accordingly. Funding availability is subject to change.
* The Alter Rockbridge program is only available to those that live Rockbridge County, City of Lexington, and Buena Vista.
